Do we need to ping when we send requests

I am sending subscription requests. My understanding is that if the interval between requests is less than pingTimeout/3, we don't need to send a separate rsslPing heartbeat. So, is it correct that we only need to send a heartbeat if there is a period where no requests are sent and that period exceeds pingTimeout/3?

Yes, the request messages are counted as ping messages on the server side.

According to the ETA developer guide, the typically used rule of thumb is to send a heartbeat every
pingTimeout/3 seconds.
