Integration of Data Item Browser into Eikon API

Is there an existing method of accessing the Data Item Browser within the Eikon API for Python? If not, is it possible to get this integrated?

This would drastically save time and energy versus flipping back and forth, sorting, and manually entering codes.

No, it is not possible.

Please send feedback to the product team directly.

You may use the Code Creator (CODECR) app instead. I can generate the code that uses the Refinitiv Data Library. However, you can easily convert it to the LSEG Data Library for Python.

Hi @msucho ,
There is currently no way to access the Data Item Browser (DIB) directly from the Python API. DIB is part of the Workspace interface and isn’t exposed through the API.

However, if you code inside CodeBook*, you can get built‑in instrument and field auto‑suggestions - which works very much like an inline mini‑DIB.
Just press:

Windows: Ctrl + Space
macOS: Option + Space

You’ll instantly see Instruments and Fields suggestions as you type, without switching screens:

This is the smoothest workflow today and removes most of the back‑and‑forth with DIB.

*If you’re not familiar with CodeBook, you can access it from Workspace → Search → CODEBK and start coding immediately.
