How to get API key to workspace for programmatic access

Hi,

Can someone pls help me with creating machine account- so I can authenticate platform session via EDP. I think Machine ID and password is needed. I have APPKEY and username registered on Refinitiv workspace. thanks

I am understanding that you already have the Workspace account and the App-Key for the Workspace. Pleaes be informed that you can use the

to connect and get data from Workspace without additional login credentials. As long as you have LSEG's Workspace Desktop App opened on the machine on which you code. See more detail on the Data Library Quickstart page.

However, if you need to connect and get data from the Platform Session/Data Platform APIs (RDP, formerly known as EDP), you need the RDP Account and RDP App Key. The RDP account and permission are different from the Workspace (they are different product).

Please contact your LSEG Account Manager, Sale Team or CSM to help get the RDP account (email user, and machine-id user types).

Regarding the RDP's App-Key, you can use the same App Key Generator (APPKEY) on Workspace to generate App-Key for the RDP.

Then, input the required information, and check the "EDP API" option for using the RDP API.

* Note: You can tick both "Eikon Data API" and "EDP API" to use both Desktop and Platform sessions with the same App-Key

Alternatively, you can access the App-Key generator website once you got the RDP email-based user account via the RDP API Playground website.
