Can I directly use lseg-data to access Reuters news content?

My goal is to programmatically extract Reuters news articles related to attacks and conflicts happening in the Middle East for further analysis and monitoring.

Any guidance, documentation links, or implementation examples would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Yes, the LSEG Data Library for Python can be used to access both news headlines and full news stories. First, run the same news query used in the News Monitor app to retrieve headlines. Then, use the resulting story IDs to request the corresponding news stories.

@Jirapongse I have reviewed the Python notebook, and it does seem helpful. However, I do not have the credentials required for the lseg-data.config.json configuration file. Could you please help me obtain the necessary credentials as well?

You can run it with the Workspace desktop session and the library will pull data from the running Workspace session.

import lseg.data as ld
ld.open_session()
…

Otherwise, you can run the code in the CodeBook (CODEBK) application in Workspace.

Different news queries return different results. Since the code uses "LSEG.L" as the news query, it retrieves headlines related to LSEG. To reproduce the same headlines, you need to use the identical news query.

You can contact the Workspace support team via LSEG Support and ask for a news query. Then, use the news query when calling the ld.news.get_headlines method.
