Query regarding DSS REST API

Hi Team,

This is on behalf of user from Bank of Korea,currently using DSS via the GUI and they are looking to start using DSS REST APIs.

I would appreciate your guidance on the following questions:

* Is it possible to use the API only for instrument list maintenance/updates while continuing to use their existing file extraction workflow in DSS GUI?* In other words, can they update instrument lists via API but keep the extraction and scheduling process unchanged?

* Is there any API functionality or recommended approach that would allow instrument lists to be updated automatically from such a source, without requiring manual updates in DSS GUI?* The customer has an Excel file containing a list of instruments on their server.
* They would like to automate the process of updating the DSS instrument list based on that file.

Any guidance, best practices, or relevant documentation would be greatly appreciated.

I think so. The client can use the API to update the exiting list. Then, the schedule will use the updated list to extract data.

There is another follow-up query from user related to RESP API, if an Instrument List is updated via the DSS REST API, can existing GUI-based extractions and scheduled reports that reference that Instrument List continue to run without any changes?

In other words, can the customer use the API solely for Instrument List maintenance while keeping their existing DSS GUI extraction workflow and schedules unchanged?

As this forum is dedicated to LSEG API-related questions, responses concerning DSS will be limited to the DSS REST API. For enquiries about DSS product features or functionality, please contact the DSS Product Support team through LSEG Support. The client may check the DSS SFTP solution.

To the best of my knowledge, file-based automation is not supported by the DSS REST API. The client can use this /Extractions/InstrumentListImportFromBytes endpoint to add or replace instruments in the list. Please refer to this discussion and REST API Reference Tree.
