Error on kernel connecting in codebook

I am experiencing severe Python kernel instability on both the Refiniv Workspace web and desktop applications. The status constantly toggles between

"Waiting," "Reconnecting," and "Disconnected/Terminated,"

making it impossible to execute any code. I have already performed standard troubleshooting, including clearing the

%Appdata%

cache and testing the software on multiple devices, but the problem remains unresolved. I think must be something wrong related to their cloud environment.

Thank you for reaching out!

Can you please confirm if you are signed in only on one device/mode? You cannot sign-in to Workspace on Web and Desktop or multiple devices simultaneously.

If you do so, a window would pop up prompting to sign out of other sessions/devices and when you run something on the signed-out version, it might throw an error.

Also, can you please try on your local python environment using a desktop session (just let Workspace desktop running on the device) and does that throw an error?

Would like to know the status post these tests. Thank you!

Then I just let Workspace desktop running on one device, but the problem persists as above. Thanks for your help!

Thank you for trying out the steps and sorry for the inconvenience.

You might need to raise a ticket to LSEG Support and they can deep dive into this. This platform is for support with API related queries. I tried to list out the generic steps but seems like issue is something else.

In the meanwhile, if you want to run your analysis on a local environment instead of Codebook, it is quite easy and you can refer LSEG Data Library for Python.

Let's say you want to run the code on VS Code locally which you were running previously on Codebook, you just need to have Workspace (desktop application) running on your device and the code would run the same way it ran on Codebook.

Sample code:

import lseg.data as ld
ld.open_session()
df = ld.get_data(universe = ['VOD.L'], fields = ['TR.ClosePrice'])

Nope. Since you have LSEG Workspace running on your device, you do not need an API key (aka App Key) which starts a desktop session by default. The LSEG Data Library for Python is a great source and has quick start guide, code samples and tutorials just in case you need them.

I let workspace app run. Then I open a terminal, start python and run the sample code?
